Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) is a cholesterol-lowering medication that blocks the production of cholesterol (a type of fat) in the body. This medication works by reducing levels of "bad" cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL) and triglycerides in the blood, while increasing levels of "good" cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, or HDL).

Common Uses:
 Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) is used to treat high cholesterol. Lowering your cholesterol can help prevent heart disease and hardening of the arteries, conditions that can lead to heart attack, stroke, and vascular disease.


How to use:
Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) is usually taken once a day with a full glass of water. You may take the medicine with or without food. Take this medicine at the same time each day.


Warning and Precautions:
Use Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) with caution if you have a history of liver problems, if you have any symptoms associated with liver disease, or if you drink large amounts of alcohol. In rare cases, cholesterol-lowering drugs like Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) have caused liver damage. To guard against such problems, your doctor will perform blood tests before you start taking the drug and again after 12 weeks. As therapy continues, you may have your blood tested periodically or whenever the doctor increases your dose. There is a small chance that Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) may cause damage to muscle tissue. Be especially cautious if you have any predisposing risk factors for muscle damage, including kidney problems or an under-active thyroid, or if you're past middle age. Promptly report to your doctor any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if you also have a fever or you just generally do not feel well. Use Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) with caution if you have kidney problems. Studies have shown that the drug may affect kidney function, especially at higher doses. If your doctor finds evidence of this after routine testing, you may need to have your dosage lowered. Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) may be associated with abnormal lab test results, including tests for liver and thyroid function and blood sugar levels. If you're having any lab work done, be sure to let the doctor know you're taking Rosuvastatin (Rosufree). The safety and effectiveness of Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) have not been established in children.


Important safety information:
Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) can cause birth defects in an unborn baby. Do not use if you are pregnant. Use an effective form of birth control, and tell your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment. Do not take Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) if you are allergic to its ingredients, if you have liver disease, or if you are breast-feeding a baby. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medication. Alcohol can increase triglyceride levels, and may also damage your liver while you are taking Rosuvastatin (Rosufree).

Anyway such common side effects may bother you: weakness, dizziness; mild nausea, constipation, diarrhea; sore throat, runny or stuffy nose; memory loss; headache; or muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness with fever or flu symptoms and dark colored urine; urinating more or less than usual, or not at all; nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); chest pain; or swelling in your hands or feet.


Overdose:
Almost any medicine taking in excess doses without consultation with your doctor can cause an overdose. Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. The symptoms of a Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) overdose are not known.


Missed Dose: If your doctor gave you strict instructions not to miss dose and if you missed one take the missed dose as soon as you remembered. If it is time for your next dose, skip it and continue taking you medicine regularly. Do not double the medicine. It can cause severe side effects.

Storage conditions:
Rosuvastatin (Rosufree) should be kept away from heat, direct light, water, moisture at a room temperature (approximately 23 degrees C). The medicine should be kept in a place unreachable for children.
